Collateral Faith

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.  My family has suffered a great loss in that my husband passed away suddenly a few months ago.  I pray that this brings someone else some comfort in knowing you are not alone in losing a loved one.  I pour out my feelings often on paper to help to deal with the pain, but what I realize is that even in tragedy, there is a blessing.  I hug my children more and tighter.  We tell each other “I love you” a lot more as well.  My faith has been made stronger…….I call it, “Collateral Faith.  It’s the strengthening of faith that comes out of a tragic and sudden loss such as this.  It’s giving into The Heavenly Father’s will and knowing that he knows and sees all, for He is truly perfect.  Rest in Power our Beloved and we will only say so long for now.

“Collateral Faith” by Monica Terry, dedicated to the late Mykael Terry

Woke up the same as any day, rushed out the door and we said our goodbyes and even, “I’ll check in with you later”.

But shortly after a few short texts to one another back and forth that morning, at the check-in time, still no indicator,

That something was going very wrong

That text or phone call never happened.  Although I thought it strange and out of our routine,

I dismissed it away as “He must have gotten busy or tied up with something”. unforeseen

But something was going very wrong

An urgent request to come and see what befell him ripped me from dreamlife to nightmare

What are you telling me, stop, don’t want to hear this news, impossible to accept and bear

And something went horribly wrong

You see he left us so swiftly that day that even now reality is still settling in

My best friend, husband, teacher, children’s father and plenty more he had been

For him, we will always long

But to see the collateral faith that has been gifted from his sudden transition

That faith that is made stronger after our tragedy, making clear to us his mission

Make those he touched exceedingly strong

You made us all wake up, level up and believe with our whole hearts in His Word

We will remember him always, Our Beloved Mykael-M70; your story will always be heard

Throughout your generations lifelong

____________________________________________________________

As a family and community, we know that we must continue to live to ensure that the work that he put in for our Heavenly Father does not stop with Mykael.  We show our faith by continuing.  This was a huge blow to my family, our community, and family and friends abroad, but the faith that comes by seeing how The Most High has kept us and knowing He will continue to keep us makes us grateful for every day.  It’s the hardest thing we’ve ever faced in our lives as a family.  Mykael was such a great father, husband, brother, friend, son and teacher.  We will remember him always.  I would like to leave with you all this song that I often play in the morning while starting my day.  It reminds me of Mykael who gave his all.  For those that grieve from the departure of a loved one, you are not alone.  My best advice is to find those that you can share your story with and let your loved one’s story be heard; let their memory live on in you and be strong and of courage.  The pain never goes away but it does get better.

Beloved One Performing Group

An update on what’s new with Beloved One Performing Group in Israel

We are a unique performing arts group in Israel specializing in poetry, song, and dance. We combine our individual talents to create a body of work telling stories of hope, love, unity, and freedom through spoken word, music, and dance.  Our source of our talents is most definitely the Heavenly Father, all praises to Him!!!  Take a look at what we do when we come together.

Beloved One is a performance group featuring Akilah Mosley “Lay”(far right), Nikia Browne “Nakiyah” (center) and yours truly, Monica Terry “Taptutor” (far left).  We’ve performed our trio act of Poetry, Song and Dance for The Association of Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) which was hosted by the daughters of Adinah Dorfman (Elana & Aviva Dorfman), in Tel Aviv at the Levontin7 Club for a fund raiser event to give awareness and a place of safety to abused women, Bar Ilan University for a memorial and various occasions in our community.   Although each of us has our own endeavors and performances outside of Beloved One, it’s a blessing to come together in unity to magnify the name of the Heavenly Father who gave us our talents.

Please check out our recent contest entry video above.  We would be happy to perform for your special occasion as well.  You can contact us at spitscattap@gmail.com or visit our site at http://belovedone.wixsite.com/beloved1

Glass Box

The girl sat alone in her own glass box

Observing others in theirs

Her box labled Dancer

Another’s marked Teacher

The next, Doctor…and an endless line of labeled boxes followed

A voice called out and asked,

“What are you?”

The girl nervously replied, “I guess I’m a dancer, that’s what the label says”

“Come out, my child”, the calm, still voice softly commanded

“Can I?…. should I?” said the timid girl. “But what will people think?”

And the voice said, “Let me worry about that and just be what I created you to be.”

As she slowly opened the door, still a bit intimidated, she took one step out of the glass

With the next step, she noticed her neighbor’s glass door opening

Before she knew it, others were doing the same

They felt free for the first time to become who they were

Free of labels and endless possibilities

Never Forget Them

What’s My Motivation?

20170303_1434231

Woke up this morning, feeling relieved to see another day, but mind resisting the waves of tasks that come in to invade and away,  then suddenly comes that recurring flood that I call…..Sunday.

Body tired cause once again thought I could cheat my circadian rhythm, into thinking I could only sleep five hours, battle of the mind, brain schism, right versus left brain then back to realism.

Just the adversary trying to get me to doubt my ability that the Almighty Father has instilled in me to aid in the execution of each and every task with precision and agility.

“So what’s my motivation” I thought to myself.

Could it be that my children need me to get out of this warm & cozy bed?  Not ready yet, doubts swirling, body aches, brain dead; in creeps a still voice whispering, “Fear not, don’t dread!”

So I choose to listen to it instead

Maybe it’s my morning prayers that beg to be recited, that give me wisdom to conquer spiritual battles, and if failed could leave me over-excited and yes, ……even indicted

Then I put into the forefront of my mind that those that came to be at some time or were born blind, would gladly wake up eager to not only read,  but be extremely inclined To engulf the beauty around them that we so often think…….. “never mind”

What’s my motivation?

Do I get up today for that 9 to 5 that’s mos def not in the 5 year plan to keep us alive, not to mention help our children to propel forward and thrive

Then, yet again, that still voice said, “Rise and see what marvelous things await you today

Let Me worry about the tasks, the problems and your pay.  Each time you awake, see it as a present or even a bouquet.

From Me my child

It’s up to us to figure out how to use that present in order to be of service to Him

and a blessing to others just like the bouquet of flowers, petals and stem

He is my perpetual motivation, for without Him, I surely would cease to exist

The still voice has and always will be my Creator urging me to persist

Thank you Heavenly Father for your mercy, this gift, and the bouquet

and all of the many blessings from the past and future ones you are sending my way

Perception

20160823_130936

When you look at the picture, what do you see?

Am I smiling, sad, or just wearing a pleasant expression that tells the world a summary of what I want to portray?  And how do you know what’s reality; is it just all for display?  If you had to summarize me, what would you say?

How can our perception of things be so very wrong?

Sometimes it’s like judging a book by it’s cover as we so often quote.  Other times, it’s like the famous idiom, seeing your glass half empty instead of half full, a wise person wrote.  Like after reading this, what will be your perception of this anecdote?

See here is the thing, how we see others and a given situation can depend on our own state of mind.  What is truly reality can get tangled up and unfortunately intertwined and combined with our own experiences.  You may be thinking….so what!  But before you brush it all off as no big deal, think about how this affects the people who could have been in your life but you dismissed them as not “for real”; the reason why the world has become so cold and some of us can no longer feel…that empathy for one another.

Man, perception is a mutha!

Oh, and by the way, in that pic……I was smiling, it was a good day!

So next time you think negatively of your sister or brother, have a bit more compassion and don’t let negative perception prevent a relationship from going further.
