Curcumin Gel Caps Amazing Review for RA

I have never been one to take supplements but I happened to receive some samples at a Pharmaceutical Conference and felt compelled to give this one a chance. Many of my family and friends and some of you know that I suffer from RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis). Although it is not severe or debilitating for me, it’s bothersome enough that I began seeking out alternative care that I could take long-term. I don’t believe in drug treatment as the first option due to side effects and for chronic conditions, dueย  to the toll chronic meds take on our organs. As a pharmacist I know this all too well.

So I read everything I could about this supplement, Curcumin Liquid-Gel Capsules by SupHerb and decided to give it a try. It’s a capsule made up of Curcumin Essential Oil Complex, 100% pure extract.

There’s more than 33 clinical studies and it’s protected by 13 patents in Israel.

As of 2 weeks ago I was taking Matcha Tea with a few teaspoonsful of tumeric, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, a half of a lemon squeezed (and if not too lazy with the shredded lemon zest), a healthy chunk of peeled shredded ginger, and a teaspoon of honey (unrefined when I could afford it).

I began the capsules about 12 days ago, first taking one a day for the first 2 days, not noticing a huge change in my arthritis pain. Mostly my issue was stiffness and back, neck and shoulder pain upon awakening. Sometimes numbness as well in my hands and lower arms. My sleep had been increasingly more disturbed due to this the last few months.

By the third day I decided to take 2 capsules per day and for the first time in months, I slept well, hardly tossing or turning to find a comfy position all night!๐Ÿ˜„ Since then I’ve been taking 2 capsules a day which the recommended dose is 1-2 per day.

This product was voted product of the year in 2019!๐Ÿ†

I still drink my Matcha tea almost daily but it’s not with all of the above ingredients every day. It’s no longer a necessity and mostly for enjoyment, although I still receive the health benefits no doubt.

Turmeric comes from the root ofย Curcuma longa, which is a flowering plant of the ginger family, typicallyย  seen in the stores as a cooking spice. Bought fresh it closely resembles ginger root.

Of the many plant substances that tumeric contains, one group is curcuminoids, which has the greatest health-promoting effects.

The only drawback I can speak of is the cost….132 shekels and that was on sale plus my employee discount. This is about $38. Depending on how you take it, it can last 1 or 2 months.ย  But for now, living almost pain free is worth it. If I had to rate my pain before it would have been a 7/10 as opposed to now 2-3/10.ย  I will keep you posted on how it goes in the future and until then, please write back any arthritis pain therapy successes that you may have experienced. Would love to hear about it.

Prepare Now for Cold and Flu Season

As we try to brace ourselves to fight off colds and other viruses in the coming season, I have found one thing that seems to boost the immunity and help the body recover from these viruses. ย For a long time, we have used ginger and lemon as a tea, but I had always been thinking how I could make it even more potent.

It suddenly occurred to me that so many recipes that I have used in the past that call for lemons as the ingredient specifically require the use of the lemon rind. ย Just in the small amount of the rind, we know that we get a powerful amount of flavor. ย Well itโ€™s not just the benefit of the added flavor from this small amount of the rind ingredient, we also gain:

  • 5-10 times more vitamins and minerals in the rind than in the juice of the lemon
  • Cancer fighting protection from a phytonutrient called salvestrol Q40 as well as limonene.
  • Flavenoids also found in the rind help to slow down the division of cancer cells
  • Due to the amount of calcium and vitamin C, lemon rinds are excellent for promoting bone health and all sorts of joint conditions, such asย rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory polyarthritis. ย It even helps with osteoporosis
  • Decrease in cholesterol (LDL in particular). ย This is the cholesterol that is not healthy for us. ย This in turn will lead to better circulation and heart health.

So, I thought to myself, why not use the entire lemon in a tea with my usual ginger, but instead of using in the form of chunks, blend it ย ALL up. ย Here is what you will need:

  • About enough ginger root to fit into the palm of your hand or about the size of a medium sized lemon. Peel the ginger root and rinse it with water.
  • About 1/4 cup of brown sugar (and 1/2 cup of white sugar , or use all brown sugar if you please)
  • 4 tea bags of whatever type of tea you would like (optional)
  • About a tablespoon of honey
  • 1&1/2 liters of boiled water (filtered or good quality bottled water, not tap)
  • A medium or large lemon, washed with soap and water. DO NOT PEEL. Use the rind and the entire lemon so as not to lose the vitamin C in the rind.
  1. Once you gathered your ingredients, chop the washed lemon and the peeled ginger root into chunks as seen above.
  2. Place the chunks of ginger, chunks of lemon, honey, sugars and about 1/3 of the boiled water into your blender. ย Blend the ingredients for about a minute.
  3. Meanwhile, put the tea bags (optional) and the rest of your boiled water into a medium sized pot and pour the blended contents into this pot and stir a few times (above uppermost right picture).
  4. Let the ingredients steep by covering the pot with a top for about 5-10 minutes.
  5. After steeping, strain all at one time or one serving at a time as seen above.
  6. Save the strained ingredients in a tupperware and use it once more if you desire but within 1-2 days. ย Store in the fridge.
  7. Enjoy your Immune System Boost and hopefully prevent catching so many colds and the flu this Winter, and if you do I hope this will aid in a quicker recovery!images

Web MD Review of Tumeric

I have found truth to the claims that it is an immune system booster, great for alleviating pain, good for healthier looking skin, great for joint flexibility and so much more. ย It has been used for thousands of years and has been used inย Ayurvedic medical practice in India. ย A few other things I did not know about it is that it supports healthy eyesight and that it supports healthy respiratory function.

How much tumeric should you take?

As always, you should ask your doctor, however, many doctors are not into non-pharmaceutical healing. ย I can only report to you what has been done by various individuals and ask that you be responsible and talk it through with your healthcare provider before trying anything. ย There are so many drug-drug and drug-herb interactions that it may also be helpful to download an app to your phone. ย Its great for preliminary information on interactions and is called โ€œNatural Medicines Databaseโ€.

I have found various sources that say that to gain benefit from tumeric, you should use aboutย 1 teaspoon a dayย of the ground dried root powder. ย 20160122_115521 (2)

I buy tumeric from the grocery store in the spice section. ย Make sure to read the label so that you are getting 100% (or as close as possible). ย I suspect that a small amount is curcumin, about 2%, but just remember that all brands are not created equal. ย My label looks like this:

If you do your own research, you will find dosages vary a lot, mainly because some studies have used them for prevention of unwanted symptoms or disease and some studies used it in curative doses.

So how do I use it?

I like to take the juice of half of a lemon and a teaspoon of tumeric powder and put it in about 1/2 cup of room temperature water. ย Take it to the head then rinse it down with a half cup more of room temperature water. ย I use a good brand of bottled water with a pH a bit above 8. ย I do this about every other day. ย The lemon is good for liver detox and is high in vitamin C and other minerals. ย Both components are good for clearer skin. ย You will get the benefits of both. ย I do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and boy does it wake me up! ย You will find that others use ginger root with these two which you are welcome to do. ย  I like to be able to keep it easy without having to chop or juice. ย I find that the easier it is, the more successful I am with sticking to it.
