Stomach & Digestive Issues? Could Be H.Pylori, Easily Treatable

About 50-75 % of the world population suffer from this bacteria H.Pylori. It’s one of the few bacteria that can thrive in stomach acid. It can be contracted through saliva, plaque on teeth and poop. Infection can be spread through kissing, not thoroughly washing hands and transferring the bacteria hand to hand to others after a bowel movement, and sometimes via intercourse (H.Pylori can be present in the vagina). It’s more prevalent in developing countries and area of poor sanitation. It also might be spread through H. pylori-contaminated food and water. In the U.S., H. pylori bacteria are found in about 5% of children under the age of 10. No one is immune to it in the right conditions, however, it doesn’t cause illness in most people.

Symptoms and Complications

H. pylori (Helicobacter Pylori) is a bacteria that can cause an infection in the stomach or duodenum (first part of the small intestine). This is the most common cause of peptic ulcer disease. H. pylori can also cause inflammation and irritation of the stomach lining (gastritis). Untreated, long-term H. pylori infection can lead to stomach cancer although rare.

In addition to screening and treatment, your doctor may recommend some lifestyle changes, such as eating more fruits, veggies and fiber.

Let’s recap the main symptoms:

  • Dull or burning pain in your stomach (often occurs a few hours after eating and at night). The pain may last minutes and as long as hours and may come and go over a few days to weeks.
  • Unplanned weight loss
  • Bloating
  • Nausea or vomiting (bloody vomit).
  • Indigestion
  • Belching
  • Decrease in appetite
  • Dark stools (could be blood in the stools)

If you have these symptoms, testing is simple and doesn’t take long. It’s worthwhile to check with your doctor and talk about your symptoms. They will most likely write an order for a simple lab test. There are many natural remedies and conventional therapy is very effective. Click on the link below for a short video by Dr. Berg that gives some easy and extremely effective natural and alternative treatment. Maybe one will fit your lifestyle. Even if you are tested and don’t have H.Pylori, these 6 things are great for developing and maintaining a healthy gut.

All Stopped Up?

So let’s just dive right on in…..ever had the following?

  • Hard, dry stool
  • Difficult to pass stool
  • Spans of infrequent bowel movement
  • Painful bowel movements
  • Feeling bloated, uncomfortable and sluggish

If you answered yes to any of these then you suffer or have suffered from constipation.

For most of us constipation seldomly causes complications, but if the situation becomes long-term it can cause: hemorroids, fecal impaction (where dry, hard stools collect in the rectum) bowel incontinence (the leakage of liquid stools).

Some common causes of constipation include:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Eating Disorders
  • Not eating enough fiber
  • Too much dairy
  • Antacid medication
  • Other medications such as : diuretics, certain antidepressants, opioids, overuse of laxatives due to tolerance build up
  • Diseases: Diabetes, neurological conditions (Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis) or any disease that affects the abdominal area
  • Stress (gut and brain connection)
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Holding it in (painful to eliminate, being in unfamiliar settings)

There are many options for constipation remedies, however, we can pour on the treatment but until the underlying cause is found and we make the proper changes when possible, the problem will continue to plague us. Of course a healthy balanced diet goes a long way in prevention. As has been stated before, if the gut is unhealthy, sooner or later the problems start popping up in the other areas of the body.

Once you identify if you suffer from constipation due to one of the above 10 reasons, work with your health care provider to do as much as possible to eliminate the cause or decrease the affect that it has on your elimination. Bottom line…..no pun intended, we must educate ourselves on what we eat and drink as well as maintain a healthy diet. See some of my other posts found below on natural detox, healthy microbiome and more. Hope this info helps!
