Black Seed Oil Review, Vegan Recipes & More

My Black Seed Oil Review

Many call Black Seed Oil ”Liquid Gold” and some have said that it cures everything except death. It was so valuable that the seeds were found in King Tut’s tomb, which gives you an idea of its value even in ancient times. I heard about this Blackseed Oil for the first time through a great friend but didn’t seek it out immediately. After finally looking into it and deciding to try it, I wanted to share some of my thoughts; but first, check out this short video review by a physician, Dr. Eric Berg.

As you may have heard in the above video, it is said to cure/ease so many things. I began using it as an anti-inflammatory and pain cure for arthritis, mainly for my back. Also, I believe that it is helping to protect my nerve cells against free radical damage (acting as an anti-oxidant/anti-aging). It causes cancer cells to commit suicide…..WHAT???🤷 It is in medical terms a somatostatin analog, which as you heard the doctor in the vid state was the only natural one that he could find. People pay thousands of dollars for cancer treatment. As far as concomitant and natural therapy for multiple ailments, this one has made number one on my list!!!🏆 STOCK THIS IN YOUR CABINET!!!

The only drawback I can report about this amazing oil is that I suffered from constipation and had to put more effort into staying hydrated. I currently am using only one teaspoon a day and plan to continue this natural remedy.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Together

Check out this quick video on ACV and Lemon together. A very powerful combination. It’s absolutely been life-changing. As a part of my daily detox, I also give it a thumbs up. 🏆 STOCK THIS IN YOUR CABINET!!!

I take 1-2 ounces of lemon, 2 tablespoons of ACV in 16-20 ounces of water. I have not yet seen any drawbacks from this natural therapy. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Tasty Vegan Cooking…Some of my Faves from my kitchen and from YouTuber Rachel Ama!

This change from a nearly meatless, animal-free diet has definitely been a learning process, but very rewarding. The main thing to remember is to GET STARTED and DON’T BE AFRAID to experiment in the kitchen. Try new things. I’m including a video below of Rachel Ama’s from her YouTube Channel. She has some amazing recipes. Also below I have posted a few pics of my own that my family and I enjoy daily. I do meal prep a few days out of the week to cut down on the cooking time and then begin to ”build a plate/bowl” so to speak. Remember to KEEP IT ALKALINE as much as possible and pack your meals with nutrients, BUY ORGANIC when possible and WASH produce, beans and grains.

Last but surely not least, I leave you with some meditation

A Psalm of David, Psalm 30:1-12 This was originally written by David to be sung at the inauguration of the Temple, though he knew it would not take place in his lifetime but of his son’s, Solomon. The Psalm entered into the siddur as a prayer to be said on Hanukka and was later adopted as a part of the daily prayers. It means a lot to me because of all the trials and tribulations me and my family have been through. In the midst of it all, pain and joy, we emerge feeling grateful and blessed. Most of all, we are transforming and growing daily. Stay blessed!

Psa 30:1 I exalt You, O יהוה, for You have drawn me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.
Psa 30:2 יהוה my Elohim, I have cried to You, And You have healed me.
Psa 30:3 יהוה, You brought me up from the grave; You have kept me alive, from going down into the pit.
Psa 30:4 Sing praise to יהוה, You kind ones of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His Set-apartness.
Psa 30:5 For His displeasure is for a moment, His delight is for life; Weeping might last for the night, But joy comes in the morning.
Psa 30:6 As for me, I have said in my ease, “Never would I be shaken!”
Psa 30:7 יהוה, in Your good pleasure You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
Psa 30:8 I cried out to You, O יהוה; And to יהוה I prayed:
Psa 30:9 “What gain is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Would dust praise You? Would it declare Your truth?
Psa 30:10 “Hear, O יהוה, and show me favour; יהוה, be my helper!”
Psa 30:11 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have torn off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
Psa 30:12 So that esteem might praise You and not be silent. O יהוה my Elohim, I thank You forever.

Love My Matcha

A few months ago I began a daily detox and juicing challenge. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and scoliosis of the spine and although a pharmacist, I turn to medications as a last resort.  It has been proven that many diseases in the body are a result of inflammation of some sort.  I have heard for so long about Matcha Green Tea and the powder and it’s amazing health benefits.  The teabags are ok, but the powder is amazingly more potent.

Each morning when I awaken I take about 3 tablespoonsful of apple cider vinegar (it must have “the mother” in it) in a full cup of good quality filtered or bottled water, sometimes with half of a teaspoon of ground ginger powder, ground black pepper and a teaspoon of ground tumeric powder.  I drink all of this with the aid of a straw so as not to damage the enamel of my teeth since vinegar is very acidic.

After about 15-20 minutes I drink whatever fruits and veggies that I have prepared from juicing.  Strawberries, cucumbers, apples, carrots, beets, pomegranates and kale are great examples of wonderful fruits and veggies that can be used.  Usually, I make enough juice for a few days since I have such a hectic schedule.  This way it helps me to continue the regimen daily.  The key to this gradual detox is to allow it to happen over a period of time.  You will notice the inches slowly slip away but you will feel more energy and less inflammation in your body over time.  Also, my arthritis pain has decreased and my stomach feels less bloated for the first time in years.

There are some sources that say to drink the Matcha Green Tea at night with honey (non-refined), cinnamon, lemon and ginger before bedtime and it will help you burn calories while you sleep.  I prefer to drink my tea at the most stressful time of my day which is sometimes afternoon and sometimes at night.  Either way, I have seen some truly amazing results over the last 3 months.

It has helped a great deal in my detox process to minimize my dairy and bread intake.  I occasionally have cheese but it is truly not something that I miss eating on a regular basis.  I drink almond milk if I want a plant-based substitute for recipes.  I can feel a huge difference in how my clothes fit me.  Check out my results below!  By the way, I had a bit of a relapse in January due to a few frustrations in my life or I believe I would have arrived at these results a month earlier;  however, it is really working for me and hope it can help someone else.  If you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions, high cholesterol, liver or kidney disease or some kind of another metabolic disease, it’s always best to consult your physician before making any drastic changes, however, these are just natural things…..healing from food and herbs, the best remedy given by the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth!

Check out these results and decide for yourself:

November 1, 2019

Bust:  36.5, Waist 33.5, Hips 41, Upper arm 11.5, Upper thigh 22.5 (inches)

November 16, 2019

Bust:  35.5, Waist 33.5, Hips 40.5, Upper arm 11.25, Upper thigh 22 (inches)

December 2019 & January 2020 Relapse😥

Bust:  36.0, Waist 33.5, Hips 41, Upper arm 11.5, Upper thigh 22.5

After adding the Matcha Tea Powder to the regimen for one month (in addition to the match tea bag that I was already using)

February 12, 2020

Bust:  35.5, Waist 32.5, Hips 39.5, Upper arm 11.0, Upper thigh 22.0

Total inches lost to date:  4 inches!

And I only use about 1/2 teaspoonful of the Matcha Green Tea Powder daily!

I never weigh myself as a rule because it’s not as important to me as total inches lost.  Also keep in mind that you should exercise at least 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes, even if it’s just walking or incorporating it into your busy day by taking the stairs everywhere you go.

Still not convinced?  Okay, just take a look of these proven benefits of Matcha Green Tea Powder:

  • Anti-oxidant effects
  • Boosts metabolism
  • Increases brain function
  • Helps prevent cancer
  • Helps protect the liver and the heart

Stop Before You Use That!

I want to talk to you about a subject that is near and dear to my heart.  Even some of the closest people in my life don’t know that I have suffered from it since puberty and went through all sorts of remedies, natural and synthetic before I actually found something that worked for me.  That thing is ACNE, and a thing that seems so little and pales in comparison to something like Cancer or heart disease made my life pretty miserable at the time.   Now it’s very manageable and I try to eat a healthy diet as well as keep a healthy skincare routine.  It didn’t dawn on me that I had beat the battle until one of my teen children began to suffer from it at almost the same age that it began for me.
Unfortunately, the things that worked for me only helped my child mildly.  Everyone’s body reacts differently and really depends as well on your skin type and the underlying cause for the acne.  I noticed in the past that I had more outbreaks after childbirth, during times of high stress, in times of prolonged lack of sleep and when I deviated from my usual diet by a longshot.  For some years now, I have used Charcoal Soap as a cleanser and Coconut Oil to moisturize and protect my skin.  I have some very subtle acne scars from going years without a great remedy and had just resolved that they would be there for the rest of my life.  That’s why I was so excited to see a young lady’s testimony about how vinegar can be used to make skin clearer and other’s testimonies on how it has been a remedy for their acne.
So before you give in to drugs or over-the-counter chemicals and things that are really not good for our bodies in the long run, why not give vinegar a shot.  Not only is it great for acne, but it also has so many other health benefits such as the following:
  • Detoxifies our bodies
  • Helps to promote great pH balance
  • Great for dandruff and scalp health
  • Kills bacteria
  • Lowers blood sugar levels which would benefit those with diabetes
  • Helps to reduce belly fat and overall weight loss
  • May have protective effects against cancer

Watch and listen to this young lady’s routine and her testimony about vinegar
Can you use any vinegar?
Sure, but for the maximum effect, you really should use an organic vinegar.  The reason why Apple cider vinegar is so great for curing acne is that it returns the acidity of the skin and restores the acid mantle. It also kills bacteria, removes excess dirt, oil, and dissolves dead skin cells.  I have used Bragg’s before and now use Neeman which is 6%.  So far my teen has had a great response in just a week of use!!!!  You never know, maybe if not so shy, he may allow me to post a before and after picture. Please see these  recipes on how to use vinegar and ditch the chemicals and move one step closer towards being healthier:

Easy Home Detox Cleanse

There are so many detox methods available that it can be overwhelming to choose the best one and hinders many of us from taking action.  First, we must consider if we need to detox.  Take a minute to answer the following questions?

  1. Do you feel run-down most of the time?
  2. Do you feel like you are trying to get to a healthy weight but your efforts are getting you nowhere?
  3. Do you have strong cravings for certain foods like sweets or carbs?
  4. Do you have a fuzziness in concentration, suffer headaches, have joint aches and pains, suffer from an auto-immune disease of some sort?
  5. Do you lack motivation to start and complete tasks?

If you answered yes to even a few of these, then maybe the answer to these problems is to reset your body by giving it an immune system boost and free your body of toxic build up.  This is where a natural detox can be quite helpful to help you get your groove back!  As always, it’s a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider before making such a change to ensure that it won’t be harmful to any current conditions you have or interfere with any medications you are taking.

I have been wanting to choose an appropriate detox that would help me to slowly get rid of toxins and be more gentle on my system.  It’s no longer popular to do the Master Cleanse (Maple syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon) as a detox because it deprives your body of needed nutrients and minerals that we would normally receive through eating a balanced diet.  If we do a 10 day or more fast, we surely deprive ourselves of other vitamins and nutrients and when we resume eating, what prevents us from returning to our previous state?  We must make permanent and healthy changes to help improve our health.  Thus, why not find something that we can do to maintain along with develop healthier eating habits that we can actually commit to long-term?

There are some great home detox cleanses that may fit your lifestyle and they are very easy and economical.   Some may even be in your backyard.  But, before you detox, what are your goals?  Mine are to cleanse my liver and to boost my immune system…..get rid of that run-down feeling.

Here are a few detox options:

Dandelion Tea Detox

Although you can harvest this from most backyards, that doesn’t mean that you should.  If you do, please ensure that the dandelion has not been exposed or grown in pesticide treated soil or sprayed with pesticides or chemicals.  You can easily buy the roasted root or the leaves at any health food store and make sure that it is organic.  It is a great liver cleanser which we all could probably use.  It has been used for many centuries as a liver detoxificant and also helps to relieve skin conditions.

Ginger Root, Tumeric and Lemon Detox

Here is a great recipe and for more detail, please check the site below.  This is one of my favorites and very easy to do.  It gives me a huge energy boost and tastes great.  I recommend shredding the ginger to help it to infuse stronger.  This tea not only helps with your immune system, but also to decrease belly fat and alkalize the body.  Check out my previous post as well for more benefits of this great tea:

Boost your immune system with ginger and lemon tea

  • 2-1/2 cups boiling water.
  • 1 organic lemon cut into slices.
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced.
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground turmeric.
  • 2 teaspoons honey (optional)

Beware of Cilantro and Parsley Detox

I have recently been using cilantro in the form of a tea to help detox a family member.  To my surprise, I recently found that this may not be the best route.  As a matter of fact, it may be harmful depending on the cilantro or parsley source.  These two herbs naturally absorb heavy metals.  The problem is that in many countries, the land is full of pesticides from various sources and these pesticides contain metals & other harmful materials that get absorbed right into the plants.  Unless you can get organically grown herbs, you are risking this problem.  If you can grow these herbs yourself, pesticide free, this is another great option or use a pure source of the essential oil.  Otherwise, this is not a good option if you are specifically wanting a heavy metal detox.  In addition, you should make sure you do not get depleted of magnesium as you detox by this method.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is a great choice and easy to add to your daily regimen as a chelating agent.  Due to it’s acetic acid content, it gets rid of heavy metals quickly.  Two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar can be taken in 8 oz of water and 2 tablespoons of raw honey (optional).  Make sure to shake the vinegar well before using.  The honey will dissolve as you stir and you can drink this every morning or any time during the day.  Since it depletes your magnesium, be sure to keep a supplement on hand because magnesium is very important for body, muscle and nerve relaxation and plays a very large role itself in detoxification (magnesiums role in detox).

Green Tea

Green tea itself is not a detoxifying agent directly.  It contains two things to help your body to better carry out the natural detox process and therefore, indirectly, helps as a detox agent.  There are two things that green tea provides:  polyphenols, which have a direct impact on your liver and anti-oxidants that go after free radicals.  Since the liver is a major detoxifying organ, this makes green tea a great way to purge your system of toxins.  Free radicals damage healthy cells, so this is why anti-oxidants provided in green tea are so crucial.

Strawberry Detox Smoothie

This is one that I would love to try, however, since strawberries are not in season all year round, this one would not be as easy for me to maintain.  I have considered buying a bulk of them then prepping and freezing them for future use.  In general, we should use fruits when they are in season to get the most nutrients out of them.

Lemons are great for the immune system and packed with vitamin C.  Strawberries also provide vitamin C which helps to burn fat.  Spinach provides nutrients and help to regulate your digestive system.  Nevertheless, sounds delicious and if you crave sweets or carbs, this one may be for you!

  • 1/2 cup pure coconut water.
  • 1& 1/6 cup local, organic strawberries.
  • 1/4 medium-large local, organic lemon.
  • 1 handful of organic spinach.  Kale is a great option as well.
  • 2-3 teaspoons (maple syrup, raw honey, coconut sugar or a few dates)
  • 2 scoops ice.

Blend well.  Makes enough for 2 servings.

In summary, I hope one of these options works for you, and best of all, I hope if nothing else, you see that detoxing can be tasty and it does not have to involve starving yourself.  If you make it a part of your every day diet and incorporate a healthy diet with moderate exercise, over time the weight will come off and you will have better health without depriving yourself of taste and nutrition.
